Feed Hawk uses HTTPS to communicate with all feed services, even those that are self-hosted. Feed Hawk will not communicate with a Fever or tt-rss server that does not have a valid HTTPS certificate. Let's Encrypt provides free certificates if you need one.
For Fever users, Feed Hawk requires the installation of Fever-Feed Hawk Adapter on the host running Fever. This provides an API that allows Feed Hawk to manage subscriptions.
For tt-rss users, Feed Hawk requires a version of tt-rss from August 30, 2016, or later.
